Mission

The Independent Transport Commission is committed to providing insight and analysis of long-term strategic issues facing the fields of transport and land use. Our mission is to explore the long-term consequences of current policy, consider new approaches and make recommendations on the way forward.

We pride ourselves on our independence and the strength this gives to our research. The ITC is led by a small Directorate, assisted by a team of voluntary Commissioners and distinguished Patrons. These are drawn from the widest range of expertise in the United Kingdom.

The Commission’s charitable objectives are:

  1. To research the economic, social and environmental aspects of travel, transport and land use policy in the United Kingdom.
  2. To advance public education in matters relating to transport and land use, and in particular to make recommendations on possible solutions to current problems.
  3. To broadcast these findings by reports, articles and all other practical means.
