The ITC has won a major research grant from the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund for our co-sponsored project investigating road and rail travel trends in Britain. The Commission would like to express its thanks to the Trustees of the Fund for this generous award.
In a special Discussion Evening on 8th April, the ITC investigated the state of education and skills in transport. An expert audience debated these issues with a panel comprising Keith Mitchell, Paul Nowak, Dr Tony Whiteing and Martin Richards OBE.
The ITC has released a summary report from our ‘Learning from Europe’ symposium, held in Lille in February 2014. This provides insights from France and the Netherlands on how cities and regions can best capture the value from High Speed Rail infrastructure
On 11th February the ITC hosted a Discussion Evening to investigate how we can improve the first and last mile of journeys. Steve Norris chaired discussion with an expert panel comprising Ben Plowden (TfL), Phil Couchman (DHL Express), Dr Alice Maynard (Future Inclusion) and Anna Rose (Space Syntax).
The ITC has released a new report on aviation strategy, entitled ‘The optimal size of a UK airport hub’. The research, authored by aviation expert Peter Hind, will be submitted to the Airports Commission led by Sir Howard Davies
The ITC was delighted to welcome the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Mary Creagh MP, for a visit on the evening of 28th January 2014. Ms Creagh discussed the transport challenges facing the UK and the ITC’s research programme.
The ITC was delighted for an opportunity to thank its core benefactors at the House of Lords for a special dinner with ITC Patron Lord Andrew Adonis on 3 December 2013.
The ITC has released a report exploring examining Van travel trends in Great Britain. The report, authored by experts at Imperial College, London, uses the National Travel Survey to explore what we know about van use, and makes recommendations for improved data collection.
On 22nd October the ITC hosted a Discussion Evening to investigate how we can improve the provision of rural transport in the UK. An expert audience attended and listened to speeches from John Birtwistle (FirstGroup), Bill Freeman (Community Transport Association) and Peter Warman
The ITC has released a study paper exploring the effects of High Speed Rail on our cities and regions. The paper draws on insights from the ITC’s Call for Evidence and workshop series held in key city-regions throughout the Spring and Summer of 2013.
